The first part of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy is now available to stream on Netflix UK. The slightly bloated return to middle earth, is probably the most significant title to premier on the service.
In the past couple of years the market leader, Sky Movies has focused most of its attention (and considerable resources) on renewing output deals with the six Hollywood majors: Disney, Fox, Sony, Paramount, Warner Bros and Universal. This has allowed Netflix and Amazon (Love Film) to snap up the pay tv rights to many of the smaller studios and independent distributors.
